The tiny bottle of perfume in a beautiful package caught my eye on the body care shelf at Kimberton Whole Foods. If I’m being honest, most of the brands sold at this natural grocery store is appealing to me. The organic and vegan products are gentle, safe, and luxurious. Spending time walking the aisles is a helpful way to learn about different beauty companies that are making a positive difference. One in particular is responsible for the beautifully packaged perfumes mentioned above.
MAROMA is a natural and fair trade certified brand from Auroville, India dedicated to sustainable practices. In the late seventies, MAROMA humbly began its journey as an incense brand offering only 12 fragrances. Since then the company has expanded and grown offering a complete collection of home fragrances and body care. The products are cruelty free, packaged using recycled or renewable sources, and created in a building with solar powered lighting.
The bottle that drew my attention on my first pass was the Rose Attar. In my experience, rose is a challenging fragrance to capture properly. The complexity of the flower in its pure form is most intoxicating. MAROMA’s perfume in a box delicately incorporates essential oils into every one of the 12 fragrances offered. The texture is therefore distinctly unique. A light oil consistency can be applied to the skin, which immediately absorbs leaving the most alluring scent. Rose Attar combines blue chamomile, geranium, amyris, palmarosa and clove, a botanical blend that is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Vanilla, the second perfume in my collection and another challenging fragrance in my mind. Vanilla body care and perfumes tend to be sweet-smelling; more reminiscent of birthday cake than any sophisticated fragrance. Not the case with MAROMA’s Vanilla perfume, blended skillfully with vanilla absolute, galbanum absolute, cananga and jasmine absolute creating a spicy floral note with a hint of sweetness.
Ten more scents available to try and I’ve got my eye on quite a few! Which one is your favorite?
