Well it would not be a vacation if there wasn’t a little R&R. While staying in Miami, my Aunt Sharon and I adopted the saying “treat yoself” and that motto led us to Belle Island. What’s in Belle Island? you say, why The Lido Spa- The Standard Hotel is in Belle Island.
We arrived sharply at 9am and purchased the spa day pass, not realizing that the pass allowed us to use the facilities until 10pm! As we walked into the hotel an immediate sense of calm washed over me. The atmosphere was relaxing and soothing. The indoor spa facilities were located on the 2nd and 3rd floor including a cedar sauna, a Turkish bath complete with hammam marble, a steam room, cold showers, and of course a gift shop that I simply could not walk by without buying a few goodies!
Once we sweated out all of our toxins, we headed downstairs. We embarked on a long journey through thick, lush grass, hanging swings and hammocks, and palm trees.
Through the clearing was a an oasis. An outdoor water therapy space including a salt water infinity pool overlooking the bay, a hot waterfall tub, and an arctic bath. Sitting on the ledge while hot water trickles down your back, massaging as it falls was an amazing experience. Our bodies bobbed along the pool, while the salt kept us buoyant and free from any stress on the body.
We ordered delicious and light food while stretching on lounge chairs overlooking the bay.
The smell of the ocean, the warm breeze, and the beautiful sunny day was something I could get used to on a regular basis! If you are in the Miami area, The Lido Spa is definitely worth visiting!
