This Saturday will be the 15th year of celebrating small businesses. Originally, Small Business Saturday was created to help businesses suffering from the recession. Today, small businesses still rely on holiday spending and shopping at your local stores to help build the economy and community. I love shopping at local stores especially bookstores. They each have their own personality and atmosphere as well as a unique selection of books.
Capricorn Books has a great selection, an adorable kids section with toys and trinkets and partners with other local businesses for fun events. Recently, they partnered with Ambler Theater for a book signing of Accidentally Wes Anderson: Adventures. Two local photographers, Lisa Schaffer and Simon Wernovsky had their photos selected for the book and were there to discuss the experience and introduce the showing of The Royal Tenenbaums. Head over to Capricorn with your book list in hand this Saturday.
Next door to Capricorn you will find Breslin’s Consignment, a little gem with accessories, clothing, shoes and more. Whether you need to spruce up your wardrobe or you are looking for gifts for those on your holiday list, Breslin’s has you covered. I found a pair of never been worn Vionic flats in black and white that are both supportive and perfectly my style.
This year American Express will donate $1 to the Small Business Hurricane Recovery Grant Program to support small businesses impacted by Hurricanes (Helene and Milton) for every purchase made on an AmEx card during Small Business Saturday.
