Bixby Chocolate is a women owned, family owned, socially responsible, bean-to-bar (made from cacao beans not melted chocolate) brand founded in 2011 and located in Rockland, Maine. Owners, Kate McAleer and her mother, Donna take great care in finding the highest quality organic ingredients to ensure not only an ethically sourced product, but a delicious chocolate experience. She has personally travelled to the countries that supply the cacao beans and has an excellent relationship with the farmers to deliver products with transparency and accountability.
Why is this important when making a chocolate purchase? Americans spend $21 billion on chocolate every year, most of which is NOT ethically sourced. In fact, direct trade (purchased directly from farmers) only accounts for less than 1% of the cacao beans on the market. Vegan, gluten-free, certified organic, Rainforest Alliance Certified, and natural ingredients are combined to make a truly special product. One of our very favorite treats is the Coconut Nib Swirl White Chocolate Bar. This melt in your mouth, vegan and gluten free chocolate bar is on a whole other level when it comes to flavor. Fresh and fruity notes of the cacao nibs offer texture and balance to the sweetness from the coconut and luscious cocoa butter.
Have you ever smelled or tried on a body product and thought, wow, that smells good enough to eat?! That is the exact thought that comes to mind when describing Bixby body butter and Chocolate lip balm. The rich cocoa butter and coconut oil waft in the air with every opening of the jar. Ultra nourishing, hydrating, natural ingredients melt into the skin leaving you feeling moisturized and silky smooth. After just a few times of applying the lip balm, dry cracked winter lips, felt hydrated, healed, and protected from future cold days.
Bixby Chocolate offers a special treat for everyone- dark, milk, white chocolate lovers as well as those suffering from food allergies and dietary restrictions. Also, 5% of the sales from a purchase of the adorable Puffin chocolate collection will be donated to Project Puffin, which protects the iconic Puffin that lives along the Maine coastline.
