Most of us are guilty of owning clothing made from synthetic fibers. You know of which culprits I am referring- polyester, acrylic, nylon, you get the point. Even those of us that are consciously trying to purchase responsibly sourced and made clothing might have difficulty doing so every single time. Access and cost are two potential challenges that can influence our buying decisions.
Unfortunately, those purchasing choices have environmental consequences. According to Plastic Soup Foundation, acrylic accounts for more than 3,000 fibers per gram, which is released in one washing cycle!
How can we do our part? One way to reduce the amount of microplastics we are sending straight to our oceans is opting to air out clothing. Whether is is outside or on a hanger in your home. Airing out clothing is an effective alternative to unnecessarily washing clothing.
For an added boost, try lightly spraying with a green and eco-friendly odor eliminator and hanging until dry to add a fresh and “just washed” scent. Ecos is sustainably made in a carbon-neutral plant using zero-waste guidelines! Products are plant based with cruelty-free ingredients that are gentle for people and the environment.
