Slowly but surely, I have been integrating more and more natural and organic products into my beauty routine. Antiperspirant was one of the first changes that I made due to the potential dangers in aluminum including links to Alzheimer’s and breast cancer. Even though these are only studies and not universally adhered, I still try to swap out possible troublemakers. I am of the mindset, “why take a chance?”
With that said, natural and organic beauty products can also be environmentally friendly as they do not contain harmful chemicals, are sustainable, and are mission based, which leads me to Alaffia.
Alaffia is a certified Fair for Life: Social & Fair Trade by IMO, which refers to the strict social and fair trade standards with adaptability to local conditions of which businesses need to adhere. Each skin and body product contains sustainably harvested ingredients. Alaffia is dedicated to empowerment projects, which include several Education-Based Projects, Maternal Health, FGM Eradication, Eyeglasses and Reforestation. I urge you to subscribe to their newsletter and please read more on all their social activism, environmental, and philanthropic efforts here. I have been using the Coconut Body Wash from the Everyday Coconut collection every time I shower! I cannot get enough of the rich lather, delicious fragrance, and hydrating results. I need to try the entire collection now.
Majestic Pure Cosmeceuticals is a brand that I discovered by one of the instagram accounts I follow. Every product is paraben-free, GMO-free and cruelty-free, naturally and plant based derived. I am prone to charley horses in my calves and legs and decided to try the Cellulite Hot Cream, which let’s be honest is a dual purpose product for me. The cinnamon, eucalyptus, and ginger essential oils are aromatic and soothing. Initially, the product feels cool and tingly on the skin, but quickly warms. The heat sensation soothes the muscles and relaxes the entire body.
Weleda, a sustainable, cruelty free and certified natural by NATRUE beauty line, offers a complete range of face, body and baby products. Sadly, I am allergic to shea butter and as a result am limited in some of the options I would like to try. However, maybe the most crucial in my opinion is available to me. The Roll-On Deodorant in citrus is one of my favorites! The citrus scent is bright and energizing. The formula absorbs quickly on the skin, lasts all day and is overall very effective.
The charcoal whitening tooth polish by Olivia Care is a product that I received as a giveaway and quickly became a must-have. This natural, paraben free, and cruelty free brand offers charcoal polishes in a variety of flavors as well as beautiful olive oil soaps, lotions, face masks, and much more. A little goes a long way with the charcoal powder and keep in mind it can be messy. Make sure to rinse teeth and gums thoroughly to remove any charcoal particles. The results are noticeable, teeth are whiter, offering a safer and natural way to remove stains.
I am a complete sucker for cocoa butter. Anything that has cocoa butter in the ingredients, I am ready to purchase. The delicate chocolate fragrance combined with the ultra moisturizing results is difficult to resist. Aura Cacia is a member of the Frontier Co-op and offers certified organic, sustainably sourced essential oils and various body products. This should come of no surprise, but I absolutely love the Organic Fair Trade Cocoa Butter. Aura offers a tip to gently melt cocoa butter on stove top using a double boiler and apply to areas of the body that need a little extra T.L.C. I love to moisturize my feet and then place in warm, fuzzy slippers!
Please let me know what you think of these brands. Are you using any natural products at the moment that you think I should try? Leave me a comment.
